new edition presents valuable information that we feel is important to
the specialized Israel collector.
1. Bale 2006 keeps the original Bale numbering
system for the main issues as was used by Bale before 1998.
2. For collectors’ benefit, we have separated the
definitive specialized part [
see enclosed example] into a
special section. These issues appear twice: one in “simplified” version
in the current run of the catalogue, the other with additions, plate
blocks and numbering errors in the special section.
3. Many errors that appeared in former editions have
been corrected and valuable information has been added. Emphasis has
been made on supplying updated information regarding modern
Israel
varieties,
resulting mainly from later printing of definitive issues.
4. Bale 2006 includes new information such as
Doar Ivri essays and proofs chapter, new issues, price updates and
many new errors and varieties added.
Bale 2006 is a
specialized catalogue for stamps; however, we have included some basic
information on
Israel postal
history
we believe to be relevant to the collector. In the future we plan to
issue a specialized catalogue for postal history.
Most chapters
were modified
by either content, prices or visual appearance. All issues up to 1960
include prices of commercial covers. As much as we have made an effort
to balance the information in all chapters, it is certain readers will
have valuable comments for future books. Please do not hesitate to
contact us by email or fax with your comments and suggestions.
In many cases
we have enlarged photos or text that seemed too small in former edition.
Of course that
last as well as additional information caused a heavier book with more
pages.
